Imagine this: You are at home, resting, lounging, perfectly content in your comfiest pajamas and reading a book with a warm cup of tea. It sounds lovely, doesn’t it? But isn’t something missing from the picture? You guessed it – you’re missing a pillow to prop your back up and bask in undeniable comfort. But not just any pillow will do. You need the best pillow for lounging. It’s an essential pajama accessory.
The Best Pillow for Lounging
The best pillow for lounging is going to be stiff enough to prop your back up, yet still soft enough to use as a legitimate pillow. The best pillow also has little arms on it – a place for you to rest your forearms as you hold up your book or cup of tea.
I think you know what I’m talking about. You’ve probably seen them at your favorite store. They are those ultra-plush two-armed lounging pillows. But with so many brands and styles, which one should you chose?
In order to determine which is the best pillow for lounging, I looked at a few factors. The first is comfort – nothing else matters if the pillow isn’t great to lay on, right? But I also looked at materials and price. The best pillow for lounging might not be the most comfortable (it’s close though!) but it definitely is the most well rounded.
Linen Spa Reading Pillow
My favorite is the linen spa reading pillow. It’s absolutely the best pillow for lounging because it has just enough back support to keep you up whether you are reading, gaming, or just hanging out. It’s so versatile that I can use mine while stretching on the floor or laying on the couch, whether I’m lying down or sitting up. And it’s only forty bucks, so the price fits most budgets.
This wonderful lounging pillow is filled with a memory foam blend, so it conforms for personalized comfort. Its filled just enough to provide amazing back support and cushy comfort. I spend so much time lounging on my pillow that I’m amazed I have the time to do anything else!
The only real drawback to the linen spa reading pillow is that it only comes in two colors: Grey and Blue. But if comfort is more important to you than décor, you can make the grey match anything!
Runners up to the Best Pillow for Lounging
I know that an armed back support pillow doesn’t work best for everyone, and the forty bucks might be too much to spend on a pillow, so I have done some research on great back-up options. I’m sure one of these great options will fit your needs and your budget!
ZOEMO Bed Rest Reading Pillow
If you want to go super fancy with a lounging pillow, check out the ZOEMO bed rest reading pillow. It comes with a built-in neck roll that really adds to the head support. It has 100% cotton filling and incredibly comfortable velour covering. This lounging pillow is the epitome of comfort.
The biggest drawback to this pillow, and the only reason that I don’t consider it the best pillow for lounging, is the price. It’s almost twice as expensive as the linen spa reading pillow. But it’s also incredibly soft and comfortable – so if you’re going to be using your lounging pillow extensively, this one is worth the extra cash.
Brentwood Therapeutic Foam Bed Wedge Sleep Pillow
Pillows with arms aren’t for everyone. So, if you’re looking for a lounging pillow that is arm free, check out the Brentwood Therapeutic foam bed wedge sleep pillow. This pillow is pretty versatile – you can arrange it more horizontally for sleeping (did you know that sleeping at a bit of an incline helps with digestion and prevents acid reflux? This pillow can help with that too!) or you can place it more vertically for extra back support wherever you might be lounging.
This isn’t my favorite lounging pillow because I’m incredibly partial to the armrests. However, not everyone wants that, so a great armless option needed to be included on the list of the best pillows for lounging!
Lounging Pillows with all the Bells and Whistles
I definitely consider the three pillows above the main contenders for the best lounging pillows. But if you are getting these pillows for a gift, or want something with a little more pizzazz, I’ve got some amazing options for you!
Lounging Pillows with Cupholder Arm Rests
It’s everything that you didn’t know you needed. This lounging pillow is also made with memory foam and it has cup holders in the armrest! This fun accessory may not be needed at home, but it’s great for camping, college kids, and even for making extra comfy spots on the floor.
Fluffy Lounging Pillows
If the soft grey or blue velour is just not your style, check out Brentwood Angora fur back rests. These furry options come in four delightful colors: the subdued grey, white, lime green, and light blue. I don’t find these furry options to be as comfortable (the hair just gets annoying and I have enough cats for that) but they are a great option if you are looking to add a comfortable piece with a little added style.
Carepeutic Bed Lounger with Heated Comfort Massager
If you want the most high-tech lounging pillow on the market with all the bells and whistles, you definitely want the carepeutic bed lounger. This baby has everything you might ever need in lounging pillow.
This Carepuetic pillow is the ultimate in comfort. It has massage settings with two different intensities and it’s a warming pillow. It also has a side pocket for books, tablets, magazines, or whatever you might be reading, and a reading light coming out of the top. And it even has a cupholder!
All this technology doesn’t come cheaply though. This pillow is the most expensive on our list, coming in at over one hundred and twenty dollars. Although it has a ton of cool tech, I think it loses a little of the plushiness of other pillows due to it, and it’s a tad bit stiff for my tastes. However, if you want a lounging pillow that does it all, this is definitely the option for you!
Tons of Choices for Lounging Pillows
As you can see, there are tons of choices for lounging pillows. I still think the best pillow for lounging is the Linen Spa Reading Pillow. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the other pillows, but it’s incredibly comfortable and offers amazing support. It’s also very reasonably priced!
